Hello! This is the face behind Inhabit Retreat - my name is Sara, and when I'm not devising retreat programs, I work fulltime as a communications professional, take care of my nearly grown daughter, look after my acre property in a little hinterland village on the mid north coast of NSW, and manage a small but spirited collection of animals. In my spare time you can find me hanging with family and friends, cooking, writing, reading, listening to music, singing, doing yoga, and trying to make this life as beautiful and authentic as possible.
Like all my best ideas, this one came to me because it was something I wanted for myself but didn't yet exist. I wanted a retreat experience, but I didn't have the time, money or inclination to go on a physical retreat. I looked around and there wasn't anything that really suited, so I made something I would like.
I love the idea of a retreat being something that is available to everyone, everywhere, no matter what their circumstances. I want to show people that sense of deep connectedness and sacredness that people go on retreat to access is available to them in their everyday lives, in their homes, in the most simple of settings.
In-person retreats are lovely and can be transformative experiences. But so many people struggle to integrate those experiences once they return home. Inhabit Retreat offers people a guide to help incorporate the sense of sacredness you loved so much on retreat back into your every day life.
Inhabit Retreat is a guide to help you bring those rituals and practices into your home and into your day-to-day lives. If you do have the opportunity to go on an in-person retreat, Inhabit Retreat can be your guide to integrating that experience back home. If attending an in-person retreat is not something you are able to do, for whatever reason, Inhabit Retreat will help you create a retreat experience in your own home, whenever you like, with what you have.
You’ve got questions. I’ve got answers.
Yes! Retreating with friends is a lovely way to experience Inhabit Retreat.
That's ok! If you have flatmates or small children, space and time for a retreat can be hard to manage. Consider going to a friend's house, camping, housesitting, renting a place for a night or two - there are lots of options.
You will need undisturbed time, your own space, something to eat and drink, writing material, comfortable clothes - that's about it!
One of the best things about being on retreat is the food, right? Eating clean, simple, home cooked food is part of the Inhabit Retreat - and you're the cook 😊. As part of the retreat kit, I have created a What To Eat On Retreat guide which will give you some tips and tricks to creating retreat-worthy food at home!
