Nature walk

You guys are going to love this part of your retreat! One of the first things you get to do as part of Inhabit Retreat is to go for a nature walk where you will collect three items for your altar.
When I say 'nature walk' I mean that in the most broadest sense - essentially, I mean go for a walk outside. I know we all live in different types of places, from inner city to out of town, so interpret this in the way that most suits your environment.
The first part of your nature walk is to practice mindful walking. Some people call it a walking meditation - either way, the idea is to pay attention. Firstly, attend to your breath and your body. Feel your feet on the ground, the way your clothes touch your skin, and the touch of air on your face. See if you can feel the energy that runs just under your skin.
When you are fully inhabiting your body, expand your attention to include your environment. As you walk, maintain a sense of awareness of the present moment - the sounds, the smells, the sights, the temperature. Try not to engage mentally with what you are observing, just watch without labelling or telling yourself a story about it.
When your mind wanders off, and it will, just gently bring your attention back to the present moment - the breath in your lungs, the feel of the air on your skin, and the sound of the world as it enters your eardrums. How fabulous to be alive in this moment!
As you walk, if you find a natural object that would be perfect for your altar carefully put it in your pocket or bag. Look for shells, rocks, leaves, flowers, feathers or anything that takes your fancy. Keep walking until you feel that it is time to return - don't follow the clock, just allow your natural rhythm to lead the way.

During my 24 hour Inhabit Retreat I went on a number of Nature walks and loved the different perspective this gave me. From finding focal point for my alter to moving some stagnation in my body and exploring curiosity, each walk brought a different gift!
Oh that is so perfect - exactly what I hoped the nature walk would bring you. Thank you for sharing 🙏
